Greensboro tree work

Tree jobs we see in Greensboro

Greensboro has tall oaks, poplars and pines across established neighborhoods, and storms often bring down limbs onto roofs, fences and driveways.

Common requests include removing dead or leaning trees, trimming limbs over roofs and driveways, grinding old stumps and cleaning up after storms. ZIP codes: 27401–27455.

Before any big removal, ask the pro whether a permit or HOA approval is needed for your property.

Honest about what we are

We connect you with independent local tree pros; we don't do the work. TreeHelp Connect is a referral service. The tree companies are separate businesses that set their own prices and are responsible for their own work, licensing and insurance, and they may pay us for referrals. Before work starts, ask for proof of liability insurance and a written quote. Full disclosure

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Greensboro?

Greensboro's Land Development Ordinance requires a Tree Disturbance Permit before cutting or damaging the critical root zone of live trees 4 inches DBH or larger on many sites, but single-family, two-family and duplex dwellings on their own lots are exempt. Street trees and other trees in the public right-of-way still need city permission. Development and larger multi-family sites follow different rules. Confirm with Greensboro Planning if your situation is unusual.

What if the tree is on or near power lines?

Don't try to cut it. Call your electric utility or 911 if there is immediate danger. Utilities typically clear vegetation in their easement, and tree crews will not work within the clearance zone until the utility makes it safe.

Do HOA rules still apply?

Yes. Even when the city or county does not require a permit, your HOA or neighborhood covenants can restrict tree removal or require approval. Check those documents before work starts.

Is TreeHelp Connect a tree company?

No. We're a free referral service. We connect you with an independent local tree pro, and that company does the work and gives you its own quote.

Does it cost anything?

It's free for homeowners. Tree companies may pay us a referral fee, and that doesn't change what they quote you.

How many companies will contact me?

Your request goes to one independent local pro serving your area, not a big list of bidders.

What should I ask the pro?

Ask for proof of liability insurance, a written quote, and whether cleanup, wood hauling and stump grinding are included.
